Create an Org Chart
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on New Org Chart
Enter the Name of the company
Float org chart at level refers to how many levels of floating areas the chart will have. See Floating Areas for more info.
Collapse org chart at level will collapse or minimize the Org Chart at a specified level
Display org chart vertically starting at level will display all horizontally aligned sections into a vertical line
Display Results section at level will display the results for each area from the selected level and above it. See also TIPS & TRICKS: Results on Org Chart Not Showing.
Toggle Align floating org areas to the left
Toggle Include in search bar - This will include / remove the Org Chart from the search bar and any members of that org won't show.
Click Create Org Chart
Click on Org Areas
Click on New Org Area
Enter a Name for the area
NOTE: If this is the 1st area, this will be the top area and you can name it CEO/Founder. All other areas will come under this area.Enter the Results that this area is going to achieve
Fill in additional information, if needed.
You can assign a specific Knowledge item for this Org Area. In this example, you can assign all Knowledge items related to Sales / Marketing to this Org Area and these items will be automatically assigned to all members belonging to this Org Area.
Choose a type of area: Division, Department, Sector, Section, Unit, etc.
Parent Org Area - Choosing a parent will nest this area within another, choosing None will create a new top level area.
Appear elevated on Org Chart will elevate this area, making it senior or more important than other areas.
You can choose a Custom Color for the area
Click Create Org Area
Once done, repeat steps 14 - 23 to create the 7 Org Areas of the Org Chart. The result will look like this:

Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Edit
You can enter a new Name for the Org Chart

NOTE: If the button is greyed out, you will need to remove the Org Areas first before you can delete the Org Chart.
Edit an Org Area
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Org Areas
Click Edit Org Area
Enter a Name for the area
Enter the Results that this area is going to achieve
Fill in additional information, if needed.
You can add a specific Knowledge item for this Org Area. This Knowledge item will appear under the details for this Org Area in order to show videos and other content while browsing the Org Chart. To see the details of a specific Org Area, see Information.
Choose a type of area: Division, Department, Sector, Section, Unit, etc.
Select a different Org Chart if you want to move this Org Area to another Org Chart
Parent Org Area - Choosing a parent will nest this area within another, choosing None will make it a top level area.

Find a Specific Org Area by Member Name
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Org Areas
Select the member. It will automatically show the member's Org Area.
Create a New Org Area Alias
Org Area Alias is used when a company has branch offices in different locations. Even though these branch offices are part of the main Org Chart, they can be "duplicated" and made to appear on the branch office Org Chart for convenience. They are not a copy of the Org Area but a link to it.
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Org Areas
Click New Alias
Select the Source Organization
Select the Source Org Chart
Choose the desired Source Org Area you would like to create Alias for.
You can create a Name for the Alias. Leaving it blank will inherit the name from the Source Org Area.
Select the destination Org Chart
Select the Parent Org Area of the destination Org Chart. Select None if it doesn't need to be nested under any Org Area.
This is the primary alias - This adds a link back to this alias when viewing the Source Org Area.
Include children from source org area - This will include anything inside the Source Org Area, e.g. other departments, members, posts and hats.
Click Create Org Area
The Source Org Area will have an arrow symbol, designating it has an Alias. When clicked, it will take you to the Alias:
Default Org Chart View & Floating Org Areas
Introduction to Org Chart View & Floating Org Areas
Each level of the org chart can be viewed without having to view the entire chart. Furthermore, you can create floating org areas as shown below.
The default Org Chart view looks like this:
In the example below, the default org level is set to level 1, creating a single floating org area:

Setting up Floating Org Areas
To activate the Floating nodes set the default collapse level of the org in the Organization Settings as shown below:
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click Edit on the Org Chart you want to activate floating nodes
Choose which level to float your Org Chart. e.g. Level 1 is one level of floating nodes.
If you want to Align floating org areas to the left, select it. We will leave it unchecked to keep the floating area in center.
Click Update Org Chart to save
The result will look like the image above

Archive an Org Area
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org Chart
Click on Org Areas
Click Edit Org Area
Click Archive Org Area. Click OK.
NOTE: If the Archive Org Area button is missing, it means that there are other Org Areas or Org Area Aliases under this Org Area that need to be archived or deleted first.The archived Org Area will be greyed out. It will also be removed from the Org Chart.
Restore an Org Area
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org Chart
Click on Org Areas
Click Restore on the archived Org Area. It will be displayed on the Org Chart.
Create a New Post
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Org Areas
Click Manage Posts
Click New Post
Choose an existing Hat or create New Hat. See also Understanding the difference between Hats and Posts
Enter Hat Name if a new hat
Hat Display Name is optional - If left blank, it will use the Hat Name.
Purpose - purpose of the post, e.g. Increase Organization Income.
Function - main functions of the post, e.g. Follow up leads, provide correct product or service.
Results - The results produced or expected of the post. e.g. a Sales person's results could be "Closed deals."
You can select a specific Knowledge item that represents the Hat. This will be visible on the Org Chart when you view the details of the post.
Toggle In Charge / Not In Charge. See TIPS & TRICKS: Team Permissions explained.
Toggle Assistant / Not an Assistant
Assign the desired Graph Permissions
Attachments let you add documents (images, checklists, etc.) related to the hat
Assign a Member to the Post (this person must have an MetaPulse login) or leave as Held From Above (HFA)
NOTE: We recommend that you add all the posts to your org chart before assigning the post to an individual. This is covered in the next step Adding Members to the Org Chart.
Post Name - defaults to hat name but can be changed.
Org Area - location of the post on the org chart.
These Custom Attributes lets you add additional info for the post. For more info, see Example - Create a Custom Attribute for a Post.
Use member's or custom location - These options relate to the location of the individual and will be displayed under the Post Details on the org chart. This is useful information for large businesses who have employees spread through a multi-level building or for those with remote employees who work from different locations.
Graphs assigned to the member - Will display graphs assigned to user.
Graphs for Post - Add more graphs specific to the post.
Add Graph Groups for Post - Used for easily finding and viewing a collection of graphs.
Click Create Post
Create a Post Alias
Some org chart designs require the same post to be duplicated in different parts of the organization, often to show hierarchy.
Our users often create a duplicate post to solve this problem but this can generate confusion when assigning graphs and objectives.
To solve this problem we have created the "Post Alias" feature. It's the same post displayed in another location.
Here's how you create a Post Alias:
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Org Areas
Click Manage Posts on the destination Org Area
Click New Post Alias
Select the Source Org Chart. This is if you have more than one Org Chart.
Select the Source Org Area. This is the Org Area where the actual post resides.
Select the Source Post. This is the actual post for which you will be creating an alias.
Click Create Post
To verify that the Post Alias was created, click Org Chart.
To see which one of the two is a Post Alias, click View details.
The Post Alias will have an Edit Alias button
Manage Posts
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Org Areas
Click Manage Posts
Click Edit Post
Edit the details - Follow the steps 7-25 under Create a New Post.
Delete a Post
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Org Areas
Click Manage Posts
Click Edit Post
Click Delete Post
Archive a Post
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org Chart
Click on Org Areas
Click Manage Posts
Click Edit Post
Click Archive Post
It will list every Graph, Alert, Objective and Post Alias associated with the Post. Click Archive. The Post will be removed from the Org Chart.
NOTE: The graphs and post aliases assigned to the post will be archived as well.Click Show Archived Posts
The Archived Post will be displayed.
Exporting an Org Chart
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Download CSV. It will be sent to you via email.
Importing an Org Chart - Example 1 - Org Areas Only
Click Settings
Expand your Organization
Click on Org chart
Click on Import CSV
Download and fill the sample CSV file. See sample above:
The Executive Division is created by row 3.
The Org Areas created by rows 4 to 6 will be nested inside the Executive Division. The Parent Org Area must be appear first in the sheet, before it can be used as a Parent Org Area.

Renaming Org Areas via Import
If you later want to rename org areas you can do so by supplying the Org Node ID and the Name in a separate import.

You can find the IDs by doing an org chart export.
Org Chart Import Fields
Column | Description |
| The ID of the Org Chart the org areas are under. If not supplied it will use the main org chart. |
| The name of the Org Chart the org areas are under. If a name is supplied but not found it will create a new org chart with that name. If no name is supplied it will use the main org chart. |
| The ID of the org area to update. The ID can be found in the org chart export. If none is supplied it will use the Org Node Name. |
| The name of the org area to update. It will attempt to find an org area matching this name. If a name is supplied but not found, it will create a new org area matching the name. If you want to change the name of an existing org area, or have multiple org areas with the same name, use the Org Node ID. |
| The org area ID of the parent org area. If none is supplied it will use the Parent Name column. The org area lookup will be scoped by this parent. If you want to update the parent, be certain to supply the Org Node ID |

Note: Org area aliases and post aliases are currently not supported through the org chart import. They will be coming in the future.
