Creating Permissions to provide access to MetaPulse features

Feature Permission Levels

MetaPulse has a range of awesome features to manage your business growth, including team charts, knowledge, statistics, objectives, events and more.

Each feature has a Permission level that you can customize as follows:

  • Set a permission for ALL members

  • Set a permission for SPECIFIC members

  • Set a permission for a GROUP of members using Groups.

To see an explanation of the Feature Permission Level, go to the desire feature and hover over the setting as shown below.


Owners Permission

The Owners Permission is automatically created for every organization, with the Account owner added by default.

Here's how to add Owners Permission to a member:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the Organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Click Edit on Owners

  5. Click in the field and select the desired member

  6. Scroll to the bottom and click Update Permission.


View Permission Members

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the Organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Click Members on the desired Permission

  5. It will list the members assigned with that permission


Permissions on the New Pricing Plan

Basic Permissions

The Basic Permissions are assigned to all members that are not Admins. These permissions allow members to mostly View or Edit specific features but not Manage them.

  1. Click Settings

  2. Expand your Organization

  3. Click Permissions

  4. You can expand or contract the Basic Permissions menu

  5. To see who is assigned with this permissions, click View Members.

  6. To edit the permission, click the Edit button. Then, follow steps 5-10 in Example - Permission for Specific Members. Make sure you click Update Permission on the bottom of the page.

    NOTE: The example above is for graphs only, but you can assign any other permissions on that page as well.

  7. To create a new Basic Permission, click New. Follow steps 5-10 in Example - Permission for Specific Members. Make sure you click Create Permission on the bottom of the page.

Admin Permissions

The Admin Permissions are assigned to Admins. These permissions allow members to manage specific or all features.

As a new feature, we've added the All Managers permission. Anyone set as Admin will be immediately assigned with All Managers permission.

The Owners permission is also included here. This permission provides full access to a single organization including the ability to add and remove members, permissions, graphs, knowledge items, team charts, objectives, reports and events for that organization only.

  1. Click Settings

  2. Expand your Organization

  3. Click Permissions

  4. You can expand or contract the Admin Permissions menu

  5. To see who is assigned with this permissions, click View Members.

  6. To edit the permission, click the Edit button. Then, follow steps 5-10 in Example - Permission for Specific Members. Make sure you click Update Permission on the bottom of the page.

    NOTE: The example above is for graphs only, but you can assign any other permissions on that page as well.

  7. To create a new Admin Permission, click New. Follow steps 5-10 in Example - Permission for Specific Members. Make sure you click Create Permission on the bottom of the page.


Graph permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Choose between individual graphs or all graphs

  9. You can select graph groups or individual graphs

  10. Select permission level
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  11. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Team Chart permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Objective permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Event permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Owned event permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Alert permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.

Owned alert permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

Assigned alert permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

Trend permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

Member permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Views permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Groups permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Knowledge permissions

Knowledge item permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: The Submit permission is designed to work with an approval line. If an approval line is not set, it will enable a member to directly publish a Knowledge item. To set up an approval line, see step 7 in Editing an Existing Knowledge Type.

    Also, You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission

Knowledge assignments for all members

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission

Knowledge assignments for team members

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

Knowledge subject permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission

Knowledge glossary permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission

Knowledge item print button permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level. If this permission is not visible, you can enable it by selecting the "Hide the Print button on knowledge items" option. See step 8 in Knowledge Settings.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Custom Attribute permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level.
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Data Export permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Organization Settings permissions

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Grant Members access by choosing either All Members, Specific Members, Existing groups or New groups. See Example Permissions for more information.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select permission level
    NOTE: You can set multiple Feature Permissions Levels such as access to Graphs, Team Chart, etc.

  9. Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission


Example - Permission for Specific Members

In this example, we are creating a new permission called "Accountant Graphs" with the ability for certain members to "Edit" specific graphs.

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Choose Specific members or click to toggle all members

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Include specific graphs or click to toggle all graphs

  9. Choose Graphs included in the permission

  10. Choose access level - none, view graph, add values, edit values, manage graph.
    In this case, it's Edit.

  11. Because this Permission is specific to graphs only, we leave the rest of the Feature Permission Levels set to "None". Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission.


Example - Permission Using Groups

In this example, we are creating a new permission called "Sales & Marketing" with the ability for certain members to "Manage" all Knowledge items, Objectives and specific graphs.

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Select Existing group from the drop-down menu

  7. Choose the Sales & Marketing group which is already created.
    To create a new group, see Groups.

  8. Select Include only specified graphs

  9. You can select graph groups or individual graphs. In this example, we will select individual graphs. Click the search bar and select the graphs to be included. You can also type the graph names.

  10. Choose access level - for this example we choose Manage for each feature.

  11. Because this Permission is specific to all Knowledge items, Objectives and specific graphs, we leave the rest of the Feature Permission Levels set to "None". Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission.


Example - Excluding Graphs from a Permission

In this example, we are creating a new permission called "Promotion department" whose members have "Edit Access" to all graphs except certain finance graphs.

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Expand the organization

  3. Click on Permissions

  4. Choose New Permission to create a new permission or Edit to modify an existing permission

  5. Enter Name of the permission

  6. Choose Specific members or a group specific to this department. To create a new group, see Groups.

  7. Choose members who are granted the permission

  8. Select Include all graphs

  9. You can select graph groups or individual graphs. In this example, we will select individual graphs. Click the search bar and select the graphs to be excluded. You can also type the graph names.

  10. Choose access level - in this example we choose Edit Values.

  11. Because this Permission is specific to graphs only, we leave the rest of the Feature Permission Levels set to "None". Scroll to the bottom and click Create Permission.
